Blender, David and Goliath

While reading my book, Creating 3D Game Art for the iPhone with Unity: Featuring modo and Blender pipelines, I’ve learned about the workflow between Blender and Unity3d. Been an amateur 3ds Max user, I never looked for an alternative because 3ds Max was a complete package, an enormous maze of features. Being an Open Source project, I thought it will lack features, or at least feel incomplete… On the contrary! It was a real pleasure to dig into Blender; it felt refreshing being in an interface that did not travel through computer dark ages. It’s been almost 2 weeks since I’ve plunge my head into it and now everything feels right. Ok you must throw away the 3ds Max-way of dealing with the interface, but once you manage to master the shortcut, it become very natural.

I’ll post my low-poly Castle Crashers’s Knight when I’ll finish my unwrap + texture. For those of you that are unbeliever, here below a short movie by the Blender Foundation that is truly a work of art:
